Six rinks were out against Windsor & Eton on Saturday. It was a beautiful green almost at the bottom of the castle to one side and the Thames to the other. I’m not sure why I didn’t take a photo of the castle but it’s just up and left of the photo here!
The sun shone for most of the afternoon and helped cushion the disappointment of losing by 1.5 to 4.5 rinks. We won’t go into the shot difference, but safe to say it wasn’t close! Still all the rinks had a good time with some finding the green easier than others. There was nothing wrong with the green at all but some days, finding line and length seem an enigma.
W&E’s captain Tony gave a good after-match speech and, as normal with his team, there were several fines which went towards his charity. Woe betide anyone who omits to put the final scores at the bottom of the scorecard! All good fun for the fun raising and taken in good spirit. With a full squad of five in the kitchen led by Pat, the day was finished with an excellent beef casserole and fruit flan. Thank you.
