It was a good start to the first ‘official’ weekend of the Indoor Season with 16 in the drive on Saturday 1st and 31 in the Men’s v Ladies match on Sunday 2nd which was drawn 2-2 in rinks. (As I’m Ladies captain, I won’t mention the points score but it was close!)
Now that some of us have managed to reduce the arm swing from outdoor bowls, it’s a great time to get into regular playing.
Turn up and roll up on Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th & Thursday 6th from 6.00 pm. Stay for an hour or two. The bar will be open to quench your thirst mid play.
On Saturday 8th, there will be a drawn two wood pairs (or two wood triples depending on numbers) at 2.00 pm and on Sunday morning we take on the Surrey Whippersnappers that is the Under 25s and a few friends. This match starts at 10.00 am, but there will be bacon rolls and sausage rolls pre-match by the lovely Kim, venturing back into the kitchen for the first time since her op.
On Saturday 15th, we are trying out Australian pairs from 2.00 pm. This gives eachone of the pair a chance to play at Lead, 2, 3 & Skip. Come along and give it a go. It’s fun. In Hong Kong, they play Australian/Hong Kong Pairs as a national competition!
On Sunday 16th, we play our first round of the Egham Trophy v Old Coulsdon with two rinks home and two away both starting at 10.00 am.
Wear greys on the two Saturdays and whites on all the other matches.
On Saturday 22nd, there is no official game of bowls but the Club are holding a Quiz starting at 5.00 pm with a break for supper in the middle. Come and pit your wits against club members, their friends, neighbours etc. Tickets are £6 per person and include supper.
On Sunday 23rd, we need to get a full six rinks out v Egham, away at 2.00 pm.
Please sign up in the Clubhouse for any (all!) these events.
