Sunday 31st January – Double Whammy – Men’s Leonard Denny Memorial & Mixed v Met Police

On Sunday morning, the Men took on local rivals Hounslow (again!) in the second round of the Leonard Denny Memorial Trophy.  .They’ve been our real bete noir this season and we lost overall.

Home team:  Dave B, Peter T, Billy B & skip Martin P

Away team: David S, Stormin Norman, Gary & skip Dave A

For those of you wondering why Gorgeous George H hasn’t been on the team lists recently, it’s because he’s been poorly and in hospital but he’s home now and on the road to recovery.  We wish him well.  He hopes to be playing in about a month.

On Sunday afternoon, we played against the Met Police and were all on our best behavious – well almost.  There was a lot of barracking and friendly banter from  those on our team who worked for the Prison Service and a lot of laughter was heard across the green.

Although at tea time, we were well down on all rinks except captain Martin P’s rink (no.2 – his favourite now!), the usual trick of the break seemed to help and the other three CP team crept back up with both Laurence’s and Gym’s team creeping ahead in the very last couple of ends.

Thanks to Jane W for running the bar again and for the delicious Roast Chicken dinner cooked by Kim and all her able assistants to setting up, clearing up and washing up afterwards.

Teams:

Frances D, Bob D, Sheila C, & skip Gym

Ellie P, Ann D, Dave N & skip Martin P

Rita W, Gerry, Ray P (welcome back to match play!) & skip Kerry (the noisy rink!)

Eric P, Archie D, Dawn & skip Laurence
