Wednesday 4th September – Inaugural Match v the Chelsea Pensioners

We played 4 Rinks in a friendly match at the Royal Hospital Chelsea where the Chelsea Pensioners still reside, where for many years Army soldiers who became casualties of war convalesced.
We were given a warm welcome by Captain Walter Swan and his team. We enjoyed tea & biscuits in the hospital grounds before embarking on the match. It was a close game, but over all we managed to pip the Chelsea Pensioners to the post.
We were given a meal after the match in the ‘Great Hall’, followed by a tour of the Chapel and dormitories once used by the Pensioners.
What a great day we all had, and in very good company

Thanks, John. The team have all been very complimentary about the hospitality as well as the match itself!
I gather our Indoor Fixture Secretary has been in touch with you today and I hope we can find a date in our calendar soon!
