Another Busy Weekend

This evening you should be basking in warm sunshine for the Friday Night Leagues as last week’s northerly wind seems to have gone its holidays.

Tonight Norman & co play their Middlesex Men’s Triples.  The match will be well underway by now so we hope they are doing well.

Tomorrow afternoon (Saturday 10th), the Club are off to Sunbury for a triples match with Captain of the Day, David Hale.

Tomorrow at 12:30, the second of the inter-county Johns Trophy matches takes place at Cambridge Park this time against the Isle of Wight. We are looking forward to welcoming the travelling team and wish all the Middlesex girls another successful match.  Several CP members are in the Middlesex team.

The Middlesex Men are playing their equivalent match – The Middleton Cup – down at Cranleigh BC.  None of our chaps made it into the team this time, but we wish all the men well.  Tony Waller is reserve, but I am sure he will be submitting a match report on Sunday although updating the Bowls Middlesex Facebook page during the game.

On Sunday, the Middlesex 2-Bowls Competition starts.  This is held at 3 venues and the culminating last 16 meet on 1st July, playing and including the semi-final.  Both finalists go on to represent Middlesex at the National FInals in Leamington in August/September.

There were wins this week for Sarah in the National Champion of Champions v Vicky S from Ashford as well as Dave P, Andy H, Wolfie & Ange in the National Fours after they came up against TIna, Lucy, Roby & Andy last night.

Jacquie E & Marie and Sarh & Lucy made it through in the Middlesex Pairs.  The Singles and Triples events start soon.

On Monday Gary B & Peter M play their Middlesex Pairs and Alasdair & Shaf (?) play their Richmond & Barnes alongside Ange & Jean playing Tricia & Dawn in the Over 55’s Senior Pairs (how did we get to be over 55?!) and on Tuesday Dawn & Paul C continue thier National Mixed Pairs challenge.  Gary is back on the green on THursday afternoon with the Middlesex Unbadged Singles.

On Tuesday, the club take on Hurlingham Club at 2:30 at CP.

So, whatever you’re up to over this weekend and next week, remember sun cream, a hat, a flask of water, a cool pack, after sun lotion, Chaptstick (other brands are available); and keep yourself out of excessive hours in the sunshine.
