Bits and Bobs!

Happy. Birthday to Indoor Captain, Kevin K. We hope you’ve had a lovely day.

This morning 15 of us travelled through the rain to have the first indoor roll up of the season. There were remarkably few “draw “ bowls in the ditch. Good start. Apart from the weekday morning roll ups, some of us will be down next Saturday starting at 2:00 for another roll up. Those wanting to stay on for the bingo, it’s an ideal time to get to know some more members. Bingo starts at 5:00. Bring your own snacks.
6th October – Club AGM – come along to find what has been happening in the background now that the new Board have been in office for a year and have been working jolly hard on our behalf.
It’s also to chance to elect or re-elect new officers for the Club as a whole as well as the Indoor and Outdoor Sections.
There are sign up sheets for nominations and decoders on the bar.

Yeaterday was the last of the Middlesex outdoor finals for this year held at Bounds Green. Unfortunately, Dave P & Gary lost on the final end, clinched by the opposition’s final bowl.
Meanwhile, down in Chertsey, an intertwined team took the Open Fours having scraped into the semi final by 1 point. They then won their semi-final and final relatively comfortably as all four played well.

Peter T plays with Peter I at Chertsey. Peter T plays Mixed Pairs with Dawn in the National indoor comps and Dawn plays outdoor National Mixed Pairs with Paul C at West Ealing. A nice end to the outdoor season!

Now, for all you quizzers who happen to be doing one in the Chertsey hall, you might to need know that Peter T and his team won the British Isles Tug-o’-War Championships.  He also represented England in no less than three World Championships!  He’s kept that quiet!

Norman & Jean popped in to see George which was a lovely surprise for him. He wishes everyone well for the indoor season.
Did you know that during army service based in Egypt, George climbed up the outside of the Pyramids? That must have been some climb and not one that is permitted now.

Reg hopes to be back on the indoor green in the new year as he is getting his hip sorted. Great news!

King George Field, whom we are playing on 5th October, are doing a 24 hour bowling marathon in aid of Motor Neurone disease. This will be in February  There’s a poster and more details on the Club noticeboard. If you fancy taking part, they will be pleased to hear from you.

Have a good week and see some of you on Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Dawn. I had an enjoyable day with the Family. Nothing excessive at my advanced age!
    Regards,
