Cambridge Park runs a series of internal indoor leagues during the autumn and winter, with the new season starting in the third or fourth week of October. These leagues can be open to players of any standard. Many members already play in these leagues, but we’d also like to invite new players to join the teams. Sign-up sheets will therefore be put up on the club indoor noticeboard, for members who want to express an interest in joining a league and playing for one of the teams.
All the league matches are two hour games and there are currently 5 leagues: Evening leagues on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to about 8:30pm, with afternoon leagues on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm. The leagues tend to run from late October until the end of March/early April the following year.
If you play in a team, you will normally be put on a playing rota for your team and typically play once every two to three weeks. During the season, you can swap your playing days around with other team members if you have a clash with another personal commitment. Please note that you can play in more than one league, you just can’t play for more than one team in a single league.
Just like any indoor game, each match costs normal match fee of a £4 playing ticket. There is also a very small one-off entry fee (£To be confirmed, but it was £3 last year) paid once at the start of the season for each team you belong to, which is partly used to fund the prizes for the league winners at the end of the season.
So, if you’re potentially interested in signing up for team, please look out for the sign-up sheets which will be put up on the indoor notice board. If you are attending the AGM at 2pm on the 28th September, that’s also a good time to sign up.
