Cambridge Park runs a series of internal indoor leagues during the autumn and winter, with the new season starting in the third or fourth week of October. These leagues can be open to players of any standard. Many members already play in these leagues, but we’d also like to invite new players to join the teams.
- If you were already in a team last year and want to continue in that team, you don’t need to do anything because your team captain should contact you.
However, if you are potentially interested in joining a team and playing in one or more of the leagues, you can do this by either contacting David Hale, the Indoor League Secretary, or you can register by putting down your details on the sign-up sheets which are on the club indoor noticeboard. He will then do his best to find a team for you.
All the league matches are two-hour games and there are currently 5 leagues:
- Evening leagues on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to about 8:30pm. Afternoon leagues on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm.
If you play in a team, you will normally be put on a playing rota for your team and typically play once every two to three weeks. During the season, you can swap your playing days around with other team members if you have a clash with another personal commitment.
- Please note that you are allowed to play in more than one league, you just can’t play for more than one team in a single league.
Just like any indoor game, each game you play in costs the normal match fee of a £4 playing ticket. There is also a very small one-off entry fee (£ fee to be confirmed, but it was £3 last year) paid once at the start of the season for each team you belong to. The entry fees help fund the prizes for the league winning teams at the end of the season.
So, if you’re potentially interested in signing up for team, please look out for the sign-up sheet which is on the indoor notice board or contact David Hale via the club.
