Saturday’s weather was disappointing to say the least and I think only a couple of club games needed to be re-arranged.
There were a few cars at the club yesterday morning, so perhaps those games were being played just a day later.
With Club competition deadlines approaching at the end of the week, there should be a few more games going ahead.
Following on the from Monday afternoon League (today) Jacqui takes on Carole Daines from Ashford and later in the afternoon Karen plays Marion B from Ashford in the Over 55 Singles . Ange & Dave play Peter T & Dawn in the Club Mixed Pairs.
On Tuesday the Middlesex Over 55s pairs start with Tina & Cathy playing Rita M & partner at Staines whilst, Ange & Jean, face Karen & Jacqui for a 10:00 am Cambridge Park showdown.
Also on Tuesday Peter Judge is in action – not sure what! – and Paul S & Gordon are playing a comp.
On Wednesday at 11:00 am at Brentham, Tina plays Hannah Hollis from Bush Hill Park in the Area Final of the National Senior Singles. We wish Tina every luck and I’m sure she’d be very happy to see any supporters for the match She won the Area Final last year, but with reduced dates for the National Championships due to the Commonwealth Games, Tina had to play another two Regional Final matches only losing out on Leamington by one single shot. Grrr.
On Wednesday Sarah & Lucy & ANO play their South Middlesex Triples at 5:00 pm and Dave Pitt plays the Middlesex Whisky Pairs (one of the players at least must be unbadged).
Stella & Scott take to the green on Thursday morning and Steve G & co play their South Middlesex John Gardiner comp in the late afternoon.
By the time we get to Friday, some sort of normal routine returns with the morning roll up and the Friday evening leagues.
Having won the Area Final of the National Champion of Champions v Sue Apperl from Bush Hill Park, Sarah now plays against Teresa Newman from Waddington BC – the Bucks Area winner on Saturday morning at Gerrards Cross(?). We wish Sarah well Also on Saturday it’s the Middlesex Ladies Two Bowl Pairs. Lucy is working on Plan B to fill Sarah’s shoes. Marie & partner (not sure if it’s Jacquie or Janice) will also be vying for a place in the semi-final on 3rd September.
In the afternoon there is Club friendly v Springfield and two of our newest recruits will be making their match debut. Good luck to Wiola and Adrian! Roy is our captain of the day, leading his team into battle!
On Sunday, we play the London Civil Service. When I looked on Saturday, we were still a couple of names short. It is also the Middlesex Men’s Finals Day at Hendon. Alas, none of our chaps are playing, (although our Indoor Captain, Kevin is playing the Final of the President’s Cup) but they do seem to be doing very well in the South Middlesex competitions.
