Result – a win for Middlesex but a fantastic result for Caroline P (last minute sub and her first County game) and Joan K from CP alongside Ann B (Bishop Duppas) and Rita M (Staines) who won Top Rink! Well done!

The volunteers have been hard at it this morning preparing for the county friendly .
Head chef Karen awards them a well earned morning beverage. Alas, Marie missed out on this treat as she did a lot of prep last night!

However, if the match is scheduled for 1.30pm it’s not clear to me why the Friday morning roll-up was cancelled. For the members who pay full subs but only wish to play roll-ups (freedom of choice), these sessions should be protected and only in exceptional circumstances should they be cancelled.
On the subject of volunteers, I’ve always found this general reference to the club needing volunteers quite irritating. It’s hard to volunteer for an unspecified task or event on an unspecified date. There are probably quite a few people willing to lend a hand if asked. I’ve lost count of the number of times in the past that the roll-up crowd have helped shift furniture etc etc.

Hello Stella, Thank you for your comments. I will check where we have, in the past year, advised members of the need for volunteers for particular roles or tasks. I will also check where written notification was given that there was no roll up on Friday 31st July. I must admit I haven’t seen any. I’ll get back to you via your personal email.
