Middlesex Ladies Two Bowl Singles

Well done to Jacqui, Ann H and Dawn who have made it through to the last 16 of the County Two Bowl Singles competition.
It was Jacqui’s first go at the competition so she has done very well.
Karen won her first round match but lost out to the very experienced Isobel from Bishop Duppas.
Also through from our group we’re Lisa from Ashford and Dot from Staines.
it was bloomin’ hot out there and we missed this afternoon’s thunderstorms.
The greens all needed that downpour!

Well done to Middlesex Ladies!

It was another win by 5-1 rinks in the Johns Trophy yesterday. Terrific result.
Well done to all the players and the encouragement from the Middlesex President, Dee, and County Administrator Jacquie E. Great to see Jo, Liz, Tony, Mike, Stan, Tommy and Kevin from Middlesex as well as George, Brian, Corale, Nigel, Gym and our other club supporters. It really helps the team.
Massive thanks to Terry, Ann, Norman, Jane, Roy, Janice from the club for the work behind the scenes in keeping us hydrated (all over!).
We hope the IoW team made the 7:00 pm ferry. It was going to be tight, but the 8:00 pm was cancelled and there wasn’t a 9:00 pm, leaving only the 10:00 pm as a last resort.
Some of our ladies are out again today in the prelimary rounds of the Two Bowl Singles at Ashford. Good luck!

Awaiting news from the Club friendly now

Another Busy Weekend

This evening you should be basking in warm sunshine for the Friday Night Leagues as last week’s northerly wind seems to have gone its holidays.

Tonight Norman & co play their Middlesex Men’s Triples.  The match will be well underway by now so we hope they are doing well.

Tomorrow afternoon (Saturday 10th), the Club are off to Sunbury for a triples match with Captain of the Day, David Hale.

Tomorrow at 12:30, the second of the inter-county Johns Trophy matches takes place at Cambridge Park this time against the Isle of Wight. We are looking forward to welcoming the travelling team and wish all the Middlesex girls another successful match.  Several CP members are in the Middlesex team.

The Middlesex Men are playing their equivalent match – The Middleton Cup – down at Cranleigh BC.  None of our chaps made it into the team this time, but we wish all the men well.  Tony Waller is reserve, but I am sure he will be submitting a match report on Sunday although updating the Bowls Middlesex Facebook page during the game.

On Sunday, the Middlesex 2-Bowls Competition starts.  This is held at 3 venues and the culminating last 16 meet on 1st July, playing and including the semi-final.  Both finalists go on to represent Middlesex at the National FInals in Leamington in August/September.

There were wins this week for Sarah in the National Champion of Champions v Vicky S from Ashford as well as Dave P, Andy H, Wolfie & Ange in the National Fours after they came up against TIna, Lucy, Roby & Andy last night.

Jacquie E & Marie and Sarh & Lucy made it through in the Middlesex Pairs.  The Singles and Triples events start soon.

On Monday Gary B & Peter M play their Middlesex Pairs and Alasdair & Shaf (?) play their Richmond & Barnes alongside Ange & Jean playing Tricia & Dawn in the Over 55’s Senior Pairs (how did we get to be over 55?!) and on Tuesday Dawn & Paul C continue thier National Mixed Pairs challenge.  Gary is back on the green on THursday afternoon with the Middlesex Unbadged Singles.

On Tuesday, the club take on Hurlingham Club at 2:30 at CP.

So, whatever you’re up to over this weekend and next week, remember sun cream, a hat, a flask of water, a cool pack, after sun lotion, Chaptstick (other brands are available); and keep yourself out of excessive hours in the sunshine.

It was a Triple Win Last Night!

Congratulations to both the Tony Allcock Over 60’s Mixed Double rinks who beat Ashford by just 2 shots. Brilliant!

And second congratulations to the Ladies Top Club team who took on Brentham. It was 2-2 in rinks but the Pairs and Fours had very convincing wins in their rinks to give us the win!

For the Ladies, the next round is the area final v North London or Bush Hill Park and for the others it’s the area semi-final against the winners of North London v Brentham.

Meanwhile indoors, Sarah assisted by Tony and John welcomed 11 new bowlers to the first of the four coaching sessions. I have been reliably informed that they are all returning for another taste next week!

Thanks to all the supporters as well as Jane keeping all of us hydrated. Good team and club work all round!

With both Cambridge Park teams playing each other in the Middlesex Ladies Fours quarter-final yesterday morning, it was inevitable that one of them wouldn’t make the semi. Congratulations to Tina, Nadine, Cathy & Ann who went through even though Sarah, Tricia, Lucy & Jean kept them on their toes for the first 10 ends of the quarters. A roving reporter commented that Ann was on fire!
Ann & Co went on to take a victory over West Ealing and will play Ashford in the Middlesex Final.   Both teams will go on to represent Middlesex at the National. Championships in Leamington in August.
Well done!!
