Well Done Andy & Will!

A hard fought quarter-final between Andy & Will v Pete & Nick from Century saw our boys come through 20-16. Andy gallantly reported that Will had a brilliant game from start to finish.

This means that the semi-final which will be even harder fought between the pairs will see one CP team in the Middlesex Pairs Final on 15th April at Glebelands in Finchley.
Well done.
Let us know when the hot date will be so lots of us can come and watch!

Middlesex Men’s Pairs Quarter-Final This Afternoon starting at 4.00 pm

If you’re out and about this afternoon near the club and/or playing in the leagues tonight, there will be a good match on when Andy H & Wll take on Peter Wilcock and partner fromCentury.  It promises to be a good match played over 21 ends, so won’t be finished in under 3 hours. 4 hours are permitted.  The winners face the two P’s (Twells & Judge) in the semi-final.

On Saturday, BT couldn’t get a team out unfortunately, so we have opposition rinks from Ashford, Bishop Duppas, Hounslow and ANO- maybe Chertsey.  On Sunday we welcome our friends from Ember for another mixed match.  Both those games start at 2:00 pm.

And the finalists are ….

Tina, Mike & Peter T will be playing Tony, Will & Andy H

Congratulations to Steve, Norman & Peter J and Karen, Brian & Brian who were the other semi-finalists. It was a long day’s play!

Well done to Stella and Brian for the organisation of the weekend as well as all the club comps and for getting the lunch for us.
Thanks to Jane serving us drinks and to Sarah for making us teas and coffees before, during and after the matches.
Lovely to see so many spectators coming along to support and enjoy the friendship with other bowlers.
Well done to all the competitors. It wouldn’t have worked without you!

They Won! Whoop-de-doo!

What a brilliant result! 19-15.
Steve, Norman and Peter led 7-2 after 4 ends; 10-4 after 10 ends then all went quiet for another hour and half until the news came through!

So it’s off to Nottingham they go in early April

Dave P & Eldred lost the Area Finals of the Over 60’s Pairs by 4 shots.   So close.

Closer to home the rinks were in full flow for the Open Triples. Next rounds tomorrow morning at 10:00 followed by the semi finals at 2:00 pm

Well done to the organisers.  They had absolutely no need to worry as everything went smoothly.   Jane was kept busy behind the bar as well

Tomorrow there is a sandwich lunch for £3:50 . Priority to competitors  – we don’t want them fainting on the green!

There’s always one or three getting into the spirit and trying to put their opposition off …..

Thursday 9th – National Area Final -Ladies Over 50’s Triples

Providing we’re not snowed in tomorrow, Teresa, Tina & Tricia are playing the Area 11 Final of the National Over 50’s Triples at King George Field at 2:00 pm. They are playing Sutton and the winners go on to represent Club and County at the National Championships in Nottingham in April.

Great Middlesex Pairs Win This Morning

Well done to the 2 Ps (Peter Twells & Peter Judge) who beat Jason Lyttle & Dave Baxter from Century this morning.  They came from 4 shots behind on the 13th end to win on the 21 end by 4 shots to gain a place in the South Area semi-final.  The heads were pretty hot on every end changing hands within the ends. Our boys went ahead 14-13 on the 16th end.  I think if Jason and Dave (both tried) had one of their running bowls making contact with Peter J’s bowls, maybe the game would have gone the other way.  However, it didn’t and the boys should be proud of themselves on a very good win!

Once Andy H & WIlliam have played Peter Wilcock & partner (also from Century), we will know if Cambridge Park are guaranteed one finalist.  Go boys, go!

Yellow Weather Warning

Brrrr. Alexa says it’s 2C now (05:00 am) and snowy, and rising to 3C today. It sounds heavier than snow whatever is hitting the bedroom skylights.

So this is just a warning to wrap up warm and watch your feet when you go out. We don’t want any broken wrists/arms/hips.

I feel sorry for the daffodils who were just ramping themselves up to shout “Spring is here” from their yellow trumpets and giving us something to look forward to. Now they have to try and stay upright shivering in their thinly clad leaves. Like us, they need to stay positive and await some warmth from the sun and the days getting longer  and the outdoor season arriving in a couple of months.

Stay safe all of you.
