For those of you who have collected your envelope with details of subs etc, it refers to our GDPR policy.  This has now been uploaded to the Updated Policies tab on the website.  You need to have read this to be able to tick the box on the Membership Form.

Other policies will go up over the weekend when I have a bit more time!

Saturday 17th February – Middlesex League v The Lawns

The Club team is out again this Saturday in our next Middlesex League match and we’re hoping for a win this time!

10:00 at the Club or at The Lawns – 2 rinks home, 2 away.  Mixed – it used to be men only so we girls are very happy to be included!

The rinks are getting filled up as the next deadline for the Club Competitions looms.

Well done to Andy H who had a real battle with Peter J in the Middlesex Singles (not Club Championships as previously reported).  A tight game and two brave chaps who each ditched the jack to take the end – Peter to keep in the game and then Andy to finally secure the match.  When the target is small, you have to feel confident to play that sort of shot especially if the jack is 4 yards from the ditch!

On Rink 4 Peter C & Teresa were fighting it out against Ann B & Dave B in the Drawn Mixed Pairs.  Good shots by all four players, but Peter C seemed to settle in well getting bowls nearer the jack than Dave’s and Teresa tidying up, despite Ann’s best efforts.  All four played well.  Some days it goes  your way, some days it doesn’t!

It didn’t go our way in the National Over 50’s Triples with Di, Dawn & Ann H going down to Isobel, Barbara & Ann R from Egham.  Whatever we did, one of the opposition had a better bowl.  Barbara had never played at CP before but she was on it every end.  A bit galling when the opposition find the green and the home team don’t!  All three Egham girls played really well and deserved their win,  Good luck to them in the next round.

Subscriptions and Membership Updates from the Board

Subscriptions and Membership Renewal

This year we have updated the membership form to comply with GDPR and to collect data requested by Bowls England and the EIBA.

From now on, we will require existing members to complete a renewal application form every year, to ensure that we keep your contact details up to date.

For Full, Outdoor, Junior, Student and Social members, subscriptions are due by 1st April 2024. Indoor only subscriptions are due by 1st October 2024

The costs of running the club have increased substantially over the last few years, and the current operating deficit is unsustainable. Therefore, the board has taken the decision to increase subscriptions in line with inflation to help address the shortfall.

In your pigeonhole you will soon find a named envelope. This envelope contains an application form and a Code of Conduct form. Please complete and sign both forms and replace in the envelope. It would be helpful if you could add your locker number to the form.

Place the envelope in the box provided.

In March you will be emailed an invoice. Our preferred form of payment is by bank transfer.

If anyone would prefer a printed invoice, please write “printed invoice required” at the top of the form.

If any Full, Outdoor, Social, Junior or Student members did not receive an envelope please let Sarah know.

A copy of our GDPR policy and Privacy policy are available at the club and in the members area of the website (and will be available to view online shortly)

Any queries please contact Sarah Hall

Ho de Ho!

A good start to the day with the CP Table Football tournament with 22 participants.
Several photos on our FB page.

We then followed with a successful league with 7 wins, 2 losses and 2 rinks playing in the afternoon.

A relaxed afternoon mulling over the morning matches discussing what we would do for the next one.
Sarah B headed off for a swim and several quizzes. Dick, Di & Cliff tried out the badminton whilst the rest of us were getting another cup of tea.
Then Marie, Sarah H, Ann B, Jacqui & Dawn headed up to the skills training session led by Andy Thomson and Greg Harlow.
It turns out were cut good at “tap & lay” shots as Jacqui, Marie and Dawn were awarded Gold Medals for successfully executing the shot on both forehand and backhand!
We then headed off to the CP Kerling Tournament which involved 34 players in pairs, which was won by Val & Janice despite Ewy & Barry L’s best efforts to dislodge the girls’ stones.

Sarah, Kevin, Gary, Maureen & Dawn had a go on the golf target banners then we headed off to the rear of the Bowlers Bar green to watch Ray, Ranjani, Guest & Andy K and Tricia, Sarah, Jacqui & Ann B in their 3rd league matches whilst we enjoyed light beverages.
the support helped as Andy’s team won by 15 shots and Ann’s girls left us on the edge of our seats going into the final end 10-10 and then securing a 1 shot win.
Dinner was in order after that and we piled into the International Arena to watch Tina play lead for Andy Thomson’s Four in the Celebrity Exhibition Match v Greg Harlow’s Four. Hope the link works. Andy’s team won!

Having played in previous years, it is great fun but makes you feel very exposed. One rink and lots of spectators. The CP tourists were out in full force cheering Tina on. She did really well especially as she was up against a young international leading for Greg’s team.
The evening’s entertainment carried on with a Variety Show with the Atlas Music Band providing live music for the singers. They are outstanding.

Indoor Leagues

David H said the indoor leagues will start w/c Monday 23rd October.

He is still looking for preferably another team for Monday nights as well as Tuesday afternoons.

Leagues rung Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings with official start time of 6:30 but if players can get there for 6:00, they can start early.

Tuesday and Thursday afternoon leagues start at 2:00 pm.  All leagues are 2 hours long which is approx 11-14 ends .

David has put a sign up sheet on the noticeboard, so if you’re interested in joining in, please add your name and contact details to the list.

The majority of teams work with 6-8 in the squad, so you are not committed to playing every single match – if you’re worried about the amount of commitment needed.

If you’re new to indoor bowls, don’t be put off as the leagues are a really good way of getting to improve your bowling and also meet another club members.  None of them bite!
