Thanks to North London BC for lending us their green and for their hospitality for the evening.
We play either Knaphill or Egham in the last 32 clubs in the country on a different neutral green next.
It’s the first time we’ve reached this far in the competition in recent years. Well done to everyone who has played in the matches.
Message from the Board
To all members:
We have recently had an EPOS (till) system upgrade, necessitating the replacement of all existing Membership Cards, because we have changed from magnetic stripe swipe cards to a touch card system and the old cards are incompatible with the new hardware.
This will be a simple and seamless swap of your current membership card with your new membership card, which will have the same number and the same balance (if any). Membership card functionality remains unchanged. Old cards have the black stripe on the back, new cards do not.
We are also taking this opportunity to implement a deposit scheme for locker keys, member cards and door fobs.
Because we have had to replace a lot of these due to members losing them, or not returning them when they leave the club, we require a single, refundable deposit of £10 for these items to help cover the cost of replacements. The £10 deposit will be refunded on return of the three items.
When you swap your member card, we will request that you pay the deposit using your new member card – you can top this up using cash or payment card in the normal way.
Thanks to those members who have already paid their deposit!
We learned today that Life Member John Linnell passed away last week.
John and his mother bowled at Cambridge Park for several years.
He was probably one of the first people to use a ‘bowling arm’ at the Club.
He participated in various Club competitions and signed up for most of the Friendly matches. He also enjoyed the tours to Potters in the early 2000’s.
He very nearly beat a top ranked bowler in the first round of the Planet Bowls (now Open Singles Circuit) at CP. It was a very close match and John certainly made his opponent sweat!
John had to stop playing a few years ago due to mobility and transport issues, but he invited me over last year as he had a gift for the Club … namely a complete Umpire’s Kit in a leather case. It was a very generous gift and as the Club’s umpire’s set was falling apart with bits missing, this was a very welcome gift and gratefully received and is in full use.
john’s funeral is on Tuesday 17th June at Hanworth Crematorium at 2:40 pm.
RIP John.
Please go to the Members Page to find a letter from the Board concerning the Club’s new playing colours.
The first opportunity to show them off will be at the R&B League match on Saturday 10th May at Cambridge Park v Mid Surrey starting at 14:30.
We had a lot of names for this match which is good for the 12 selected plus reserves. Please do not be down-hearted if you haven’t been selected for this match. There are club matches every weekend and you will get a game in the next few weeks.
NPL Leagues start next Monday 12th and the Friday Night Club Leagues start next Friday 16th.

A good morning’s work with mud shuffling to enable the ditch mats to be laid; moss removal (don’t get a pathway with bricks – it looks nice but …); tables and chairs to go out and some mowing and weeding.
Tony O’B masterminded and got his hands dirty along with Alasdair, Jacqui L, Jackie E, Marie, Brian Cu, Barry M, Barry L, Steve B, Don N, Karen, Cathy T, Ann H & Dawn.
