Cambridge Park 1 : Egham 1

Not a football result but the outcome of two National comps last night.
Teresa, Tina & Jacqui got off to a good start v Pauline, Yaz & Norma with a 2-0 lead. Egham drew level then crept ahead to secure a good lead before our girls picked up a 4 and another single putting them only one shot behind when I had to leave. Egham stepped up a gear and went on to win the match. However the heads were so compact that a nudge on any bowl could change the shot. There was not one end when a sheepdog was needed to round up the bowls!  A high quality match of which our girls could be very proud.

On the tricky adjacent rink 4, Peter J had an Over 60’s battle v Trevor H. Peter was ahead most of the match although Trevor kept up scoring a single here and there. An unusually loose end by Peter gave Trevor a 3 levelling the score at 18-18. The next end Trevor was holding match when Peter pulled a brilliant draw out of the hat to go 19-18 up.
On the next end, Peter took command and secured the match.
Peter is now in the Regional Final with the match v an opponent from Donyngs to be played on a neutral green by 3rd March. Well done Peter!
