Men’s Over 60’s Liberty Trophy

Good luck to the MIddlesex Men’s Over 60’s Liberty Trophy Team v Essex which includes Mike Cooper, Steve Gibson, Norman Chart, Kevin Keown and Dave Pitt.
The three away rinks have a long hike to Southend.  Shame there won’t be time for paddling and ice cream on the beach!!

Play well MIddlesex!

Nearer to home Ann Bamber & Di Salmon ( super subbing for Jean and her broken elbow) take on Ann Rapley & Isobel Morton (?) from Egham in the National Over 60’s Pairs

It’s definitely a week for the Over 60’s, isn’t it?

It Was Just Not Our Weekend!

Well we all went out and gave it our best but it wasn’t enough in the Denny & Yetton Plate comps and National Top Club.

The heads in each rink were pretty good as a whole but the opposition came sneaking in!

Anyway, congratulations to Tricia, Lucy, Sarah & Karen and to Kevin K, Mike C, Peter J & Gym for their winning rinks on Saturday and well done to Peter Judge who was the sole winner for Cambridge Park in the Men’s Two Bowl Singles element of the Top Club. Great stuff.

Peter is back in action this week on Thursday evening in the Over 60’s Men’s Pairs v Dave Pitt as are Steve G & Norman(?) in the Over 60’s Men’s Pairs v Paul Cater and Tina & Dawn in the Over 60’s Ladies Pairs v Pauline & Doreen all at Cambridge Park. Sounds like a SAGA evening except that none of us look our age!!
Peter T & Dawn are playing National Mixed Pairs on Wednesday evening at Egham and L&SC Mixed Pairs on Saturday morning at Cambridge Park.

Hose Pipe Ban Will Stay Until March

Well that’s better news (although slightly surprising after the rain we’ve had this week) than learning about higher taxes and snow coming towards the UK this wekeend.  To be fair that probably doesn’t apply to London and hopefully work affect Strictly Come Dancing in Blackpool!

Some good quality bowling in the Nationals this week, but, alas, we all fell behind to Egham in Peter J’s Singles, Peter & Ian’s Pairs and Peter T, Mike & Tina & Dawn’s Mixed Fours.  More Nationals next week – mainly against Egham, but not in the Denny & Yetton Plate matches on Saturday and Top Club on Sunday.  We’ve got different opponents in Camberley, Croydon and Sutton respectively.

Have a good Friday everyone.  Stay safe and warm.
