Middlesex Two Bowl Singles – Last 16 – Sunday 3rd July

Ann H, Audrey, Janice & Dawn head over to Hendon this morning to compete in the final 16 of the Middlesex Two Bowl Singles. The rounds go up to and include the semi finals, with the finalists having a couple of weeks to wait to battle it out on the main Middlesex Ladies Finals Day on 24th July.

Good luck to all four girls. Play well!

If anyone would like to come over and support …

A 2022 Trophy!

Congratulations to our girls – Ann, Jean, Nadine, Sarah, Tina, Tricia, Cathy and Dawn who had a convincing win over North London in the Middlesex Ladies Double Rink Final yesterday.
Jean’s opposition got off to a good start being 6-0 up after 4 ends and only scored 3 more shots after that with our girls winning 28-9.
Ann’s rink we’re a bit tighter to start with then pulled away to get a 25-10 win.
the West Ealing green had a pace more akin to CP, whereas NL is much heavier I understand. Whether that helped, I’m not sure but everyone of our 8 players played well. Thanks to Corale who came along as reserve and to Mike, Norman & Steve our other supporters.

West Ealing we’re very good hosts and made us welcome. Sue B’s bacon and sausage breakfast rolls went down a treat and they followed the match up with a good selection of refreshments.
Thanks to Paul C and Duncan who prepared the green and to the WE members who served behind the bar.

It was another day in the the red jackets for Dee & Jacquie in their official Middlesex capacities so thank you to them, as well as Paul, our umpire for the day.

Well done to everyone!

Saturday 2nd July – Ladies Double Rink Final at West Ealing at 10 am

Sarah, Tricia, Nadine & Jean and Tina, Dawn, Cathy & Ann are representing the Club in the Middlesex Double Rink Final at West Ealing this morning.  Play starts at 10:00 and we would love some supporters. We have very tough opposition from North London BC.
Alas, Lucy is too poorly to play which is a shame as she’s played in the earlier rounds, but we are very happy that Tricia is coming into the team.

The Club are playing in the R&B League v Teddington away this afternoon. We may still be one player short ( none of the ladies are able to get there in time) so if you find you could play, please contact Ray Verralls.

Friday Night

Along with the Friday Night League and Fish & Chips for those who’ve ordered them, Lucy & Kevin L play Tina & Ashley in the National Mixed Pairs starting around 6.00 pm. That will be a match worth watching!
The match will either be on Rink 2 or 4 if the league teams could leave those free. Thanks

Just Missed Out

Steve & Norman had a really close Senior Pairs at West Ealing. The heads were good and tight. The boys went into the final end just 2 shots down. Norman held shot but Steve couldn’t quite get his bowl to bend enough, neither could John Carey get the weight to remove the bowl. Thus it meant our boys missed getting into the area final by one little shot.
Great try both of you. You should be proud.

Men’s Over 55’s Pairs

Steve G & Norman take on John Carey & Scottish Stan in the Middlesex area Semifinal of the National Over 55’s Pairs tonight at West Ealing. Play starts around 6.00 pm. Supporters welcome!

On Friday evening, Lucy & Kevin L play Tina & Ashley H in the National Mixed Pairs. The victors play the winners of Dawn & Paul C v Vitash & Janine from Brentham. That match is on Monday 4th at Brentham.

Ann Barrett says “Hello”!

Just bumped into Ann Barrett at West Ealing enjoying her first trip out at the club for 5 months.
She said to say hello to everyone there and wishes everyone well i their remaining comps.
If she can get a lift down to the Double Rink Final at West Ealing next Saturday and/or the Walker Cup at Cambridge Park on Sunday 10th, she will be there to support all the girls.

Sunday 10th July – Walker Cup – Middlesex v Isle of Wight at Cambridge Park

Cambridge Park are hosting the Walker Cup match between Middlesex & Isle of Wight on Sunday 10th July.

Play starts at 12 noon and supporters will be very welcome.

The team, who will be wearing the new Middlesex county kit (whoopee!), are

Janine Bancroft (West Ealing), Nadine Mullins, Cathy Taylor & Ann Halliday (Cambridge Park;

Sandra Williamson-Mills (Grovelands), Tonia Gann (Brentham), Sue Apperly (Bush Hill Park) and Sue Butcher (West Ealing).

Travelling Reserves are Angela Frankland (North London) & Terri Watkinson (Bush Hill Park); and Non-Travelling Reserves are Hannah Hollis (Bush Hill Park) and Dawn Slaughter.

It is a real honour to be selected for the County in any game but especially in this double rink team, so congratulations to all the girls.

The Middlesex men are playing the Isle of Wight in the Balcomb Trophy (men’s double rink) tomorrow. Sunday 26th June, at Ashford at 12;30 pm.

Glen Adams, Norman Worley, Pat Briscoe, Tom Smith, Ashley Tanner, Matt Larman, Scott Reading & Nick Edwards are the team members with Dave Pitt & Tom Brooks completing the squad.  So, although we don’t have any CP members playing, the Middlesex chaps would still welcome your support if you can get along to watch.  I believe they will also be wearing the new County kit!

We are expecting some brilliant bowling all round!

Saturday 25th June – Top Middlesex Ladies Pairs at CP

Firstly, we’ll done to our SML team who drew 2-2 on rinks with Hampton yesterday. Unfortunately, the shot difference was not in our favour so Kevin K’s Hampton team took the win.

On to Saturday.   We are hosting the Middlesex Ladies Pairs quarter and semi finals at the Club. Play starts at 10:00 and Ann H & Cathy would love your support when they face Ann Middleton & partner in the quarters.

Other pairs with their partners are Sue Appleby (Bush Hill Park), Wanda Grzegorczyk (North London); Kembra Healey (Paddington); Sue Butcher (West Ealing); Joan Kirk (Hurlingham Park); & Kerry Payne (Ashford).

It would be lovely for all the players to see supporters and spectators throughout the day. Norman has recruited some excellent volunteers in Karen , Sarah, Jacqui & Lucy to assist in preparing Ploughman’s Lunches and serving teas and coffees. Will Norman be wearing his pinny and baking his now-famous scones?  I don’t know the answer to either!

Hope to see you all on Saturday.
