Potters Tourists and Non Tourists – Have Fun!
Have a good week everyone whether you’re at home or in Great Yarmouth. Play nicely!
Get the winter warmers out. Temperatures due to drop to 2C this coming weekend.
Happy Birthday Ann Macey!
We hope you have a lovely day and some of us are looking forward to spending the week with you at Potters!
Sunday 27 November – Mixed Friendly v London Civil Service
Men’s Over 60’s Liberty Trophy
Good luck to the MIddlesex Men’s Over 60’s Liberty Trophy Team v Essex which includes Mike Cooper, Steve Gibson, Norman Chart, Kevin Keown and Dave Pitt.
The three away rinks have a long hike to Southend. Shame there won’t be time for paddling and ice cream on the beach!!
Play well MIddlesex!
Nearer to home Ann Bamber & Di Salmon ( super subbing for Jean and her broken elbow) take on Ann Rapley & Isobel Morton (?) from Egham in the National Over 60’s Pairs
It’s definitely a week for the Over 60’s, isn’t it?
It Was Just Not Our Weekend!
Well we all went out and gave it our best but it wasn’t enough in the Denny & Yetton Plate comps and National Top Club.
The heads in each rink were pretty good as a whole but the opposition came sneaking in!
Anyway, congratulations to Tricia, Lucy, Sarah & Karen and to Kevin K, Mike C, Peter J & Gym for their winning rinks on Saturday and well done to Peter Judge who was the sole winner for Cambridge Park in the Men’s Two Bowl Singles element of the Top Club. Great stuff.
Peter is back in action this week on Thursday evening in the Over 60’s Men’s Pairs v Dave Pitt as are Steve G & Norman(?) in the Over 60’s Men’s Pairs v Paul Cater and Tina & Dawn in the Over 60’s Ladies Pairs v Pauline & Doreen all at Cambridge Park. Sounds like a SAGA evening except that none of us look our age!!
Peter T & Dawn are playing National Mixed Pairs on Wednesday evening at Egham and L&SC Mixed Pairs on Saturday morning at Cambridge Park.
The Team Will Miss You, Jean
Really sorry to learn that Jean fractured her elbow yesterday morning and will miss out on playing bowls for about 6 weeks. Rotten luck as well as painful.
Our Yetton Plate team will miss you today and Top Club on Sunday.
Hope you can still get the sleeves of your jumpers and jackets on!
Sunday 13th. November – Mixed Friendly v West Surrey BA

At 10:00 Steve, Ian, Norman & Dave P play their first round of their L&SC Single Ronk Competition. If you’re around to give them some support, they’d be pleased to see you!
Saturday 19th November-Yetton Plate v Croydon
We now have confirmed opponents in the Yetton Plate – Croydon. We played them in the same round of the competition last year.
Sign up sheet on the noticeboard so please can you put your names down.
The men are playing Camberley at the same time , so the club will be buzzing that morning!
Only 44 More Sleeps to Christmas!
What a frightening thought!
The tv ads are coming in thick and fast. I understand John Lewis’ dropped this morning and it’s a tear jerker.
Have you watched any ?
On a lighter (pun intended), it’s 40 sleeps until we start getting more daylight hours. Hooray!
Whilst on lights, car headlights used to face slightly down and to the left unless they were on full beam. Nowadays, the LED lights seem to come out in a straight field which makes them more blinding especially as they are whiter lights. Or is it my imagination? Kevin L or Andy H – do you know? Does anyone know?
