Happy Birthday, Ange – Another May Baby!

Happy Birthday to Ange and her twin sister Sue, who it was good to see again at the weekend.  We hope you both have a great day and Ange celebrates really well in the triples tonight!

Ange, Sarah & Dawn take on a triple from Ashford, while Ann, Nadine & Cathy play another Sunbury team.  Both games start around 6.00 pm

Mixed Bag of Results for the Weekend – A Bit Like the Weather

However, the weather was consistent in being cold and windy!

It was a win v Mid Surrey in the Richmond & Barnes League on Saturday but a loss to West Ealing in the Mixed Friendly yesterday.  There was a considerable amount of banter on Ann H’s rink with Cathy, Audrey and Ange against Robin Innes.  As Robin said, he was really enjoying it.  Our girls were enjoying the fun too.  Sometimes we forget we play for fun as well as competitiveness!

It does look like Bank Holiday Weekend will have atypical weather as it’s going to be warm.  Whoopee!

Photo from Centenary Match

I need a bit of time to put something together from yesterday’s match, but it was good to welcome Hampton, Masonians, Strawberry Hill, Bishop Duppas and Teddington to join us with the celebration.  We didn’t really get wet, just very cold from the wind!

Centenary Match – 21st May 2021

Happy Centenary and Many Birthdays!

Looking forward to a wet and windswept Centenary match this afternoon at 2.30 pm!  We will laugh at it no doubt!

It’s also a big weekend for birthdays with Val F, Ann H, Ray V and Ange (and her twin sister, Susie, of course!  We hope you have time to celebrate with your families and friends!

Good job the CP bar is open and indoor hospitality allowed now.

See lots of you later

Thursday Bits and Bobs

Well done to the team playing Bishop Duppas yesterday.  I gather it was an honourable draw.  Top rink winners haven’t filtered through yet but I think it was a win in that it didn’t rain!  I would like to report that after our Centenary match tomorrow but I looked at the Met Office app this morning.  Oh dear!

Anyway, a bit of wet won’t stop us having a good time with each other.  Bring plenty of cloths and waterproofs and a sense of humour.  We have spent  years playing outdoor bowls in the sun, the rain, storms, hail, so whatever the weather, it won’t be a new sensation!

The rhododendrons and tree arrived from Squires on Monday and, although in pots,  all need proper planting.  Ange has volunteered Scott to dig a hole for the tree.  I don’t know if he knows that yet!  Anyone else fancy a bit of planting?  There are a couple of tall pots and a medium pot, two fuschias and some bedding plants to go in.  I’ll be going down tomorrow morning to do a bit.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Well Done to All Middlesex Triples’ Ladies!

Crikey, wasn’t it wet, wet, wet?!  Jacquie, Marie and Janice also caught the hailstones and storms during their match.  The rest of us who played at 6.00 pm just got soaked through!  Next round for Ange, Sarah and Dawn and first appearance for Ann, Nadine and Cathy will be next Monday, 24th at Cambridge Park.

Just heard the weather forecast for the remainder of the week …. you’d better all bring your waterproofs on Friday.  Boo hoo!  At least we can have a drink indoors afterwards if it’s chucking it down.  Still, let’s make the most of the event with our friends.  Please take photos – team shots are good and anything not posed is fun.  Ange’s twin sister will be down with her camera but we want  your photos too.

Don’t leave home without an umbrella today either!
