Shareholder News!

From the Board via Peter J:-

As outlined in the Spring Newsletter, we are resolving the shareholder situation by requesting that all members pay for their single share.

The purpose of this exercise is to make sure that the shareholder information legally required for Companies House is correct and to ensure that all members are shareholders and eligible to attend and vote at the AGM and other company meetings.

Those members who were given a share and registered as shareholders between 2008 – 2014 now need to pay £1 to validate their share ownership.

Those members who joined after this date will be issued with a share certificate for £1.

Members with more than one share are not affected.

There will be an opportunity to purchase your share at the Club Finals Weekend, when the directors will be on hand with the relevant certificates.

We ask that you pay in cash to ensure that this payment is recorded correctly and incurs no transaction fees, as this forms part of the company’s official share capital.

You will also be asked to sign a Share Transfer Form, to make sure that the share is disposed of correctly when you leave the club.

The Baton Passes to Andy H’s Triples for Tonight

Well, you missed a great Men’s Fours last night which went down to the last couple of ends. Peter J, Peter T, Kevin K & Steve G (subbing for Andy H) took on Eldred, Dave (not P), Steve B & Paul C from Hounslow in the Middlesex Fours semi-final.  For the first 15 ends, the heads were tight with the Hounslow boys catching our chaps up by playing short jacks. Then tiredness seem to step in across the green with the heating popping on for a few minutes but not enough to add enough warmth to keep the carpet running at its best.  Trying harder doesn’t always work but our chaps held on from 15-15 to 18-15 going into the final end.  Here’s a transcript of the 21st end running commentary so I hope you can visualise the scene.  They are playing from the bar end.

Peter J puts up a full length jack and draws just short with his first bowl. His 2nd lands a couple of feet short. Eldred’s bowls nip in for 2nd and 4th.
Kevin puts in best back and Hounslow Dave’s bowl goes for a swim. Kevin’s 2nd bowl trundles up for 2nd and Dave’s drops short.
Steve G heads to the mat. Focusses on his backhand and puts another behind the head putting pressure on Steve B’s shot which rattles the head and he slithers in for shot.  Drat!
Steve G’s 2nd bowl drops into the drink then Steve B’s bowl launches into the head again, this time ricocheting the jack forward. Nothing within 2 yards now but Peter J’s second bowl comes in handy for shot! (Who said short bowls are wasted?!)
Peter T goes through the head giving another back bowl. Paul C now has to try and manoeuvre the jack to kill the end or score 4. First bowl – missed. Peter T runs his second bowl past again and Paul’s second bowl hurtles towards the jack…. but misses.
Great game and well done to our lads! 19-15.
I should have taken their photo, but I forgot.  Doh!
So, the baton is neatly passed to Andy H, Will & Ian D who play the semi-final of the Middlesex Triples tonight at Century.  Their green is longer and runs quite a bit faster than ours.  Good luck.  Play well and, as importantly, enjoy it!

Match Report from Kevin K

Our Friendly match v West Ealing resulted in a good win for Cambridge Park. All 4 rinks won with top rink being Tricia , Frances D, Bob D and Steve G who won 33 – 15 (congratulations!) against a four from West Ealing who brought Dave Pitt in as sub after 8 ends and included Paul C recovering from an elbow op!  All on rink 2!

The overall score was Cambridge Park 104 – West Ealing 50.

Good luck to all those playing in Middlesex semi finals this week. Cambridge Park is well represented – Men’s Fours on Tuesday evening at Cambridge Park for a start – Kevin, Peter T, Peter J & Steve G – standing in for Andy H, who is working.  Andy, Will & Ian D are playing the Triples on Wednesday at Century and Andy & Teresa are still in Mixed Pairs.  Dawn has Singles semi on Friday.

Also good luck to Dave P and Eldred P in their National Final at Nottingham this week playing on Wednesday and hopefully Thursday and Friday as well.  Then Dave needs to be back for Club Finals on Saturday morning!

Well Done to Our Men’s Fours!

Congratulations to Peter J, Kevin K, Andy H & Peter T who showed a great variety of shots and skill and teamwork when they faced a Herga Four in the Middlesex competition.  They dominated from the start and, as hard as the Herga chaps tried, they just didn’t get the rub of the green.  It’s not clear from the mciba.org website who they’ll be playing next -either Dave P or Steve B from Hounslow or Noel O’S from Paddington.  The match has to be played by 7th April on a neutral green, so, er, next week!

Club Finals Programme

One outstanding semi-final (Mixed Pairs) to be played on Saturday 30th, but the schedule is below – thanks to Dave R.

Markers all sorted!

Sandwich lunch available on both days at £5 per person.

Middlesex League v Herga – Saturday 23rd March

WE WON!  On all four rinks.

Well done to everyone who played and contributed to the win.

Both skips on the away rinks had good games showing they have great drawing skills as well as other varieties of shots.

It was good to end the Middlesex League Season on a high!  Well done and thanks to Mike C for organising the matches and teams.
