Brilliant news. Sarah won the Area Final of the National Champion of Champions v Sue Apperly of Bush Hill Park.
Next stop a regional final v winner of Bucks area on a neutral green by 1st August.
Fantastic news, Sarah!

Congratulations to Cathy!
Cathy won the quarterfinals and her semi final of the Middlesex Singles. Regardless of whether she wins the final or not – next Sunday at Cambridge Park – she will represent Middlesex at the National Championships in Leamington in August.
Middlesex Ladies Finals are all day on Sunday 16th July at Cambridge Park. Come along and support! We’d love to see you!
Happy Birthday Gym!
We hope you have a good day.
Thanks for all the behind-the-scenes jobs you do at Cambridge Park. Have a day off today!
County & National Singles – Good Luck!
Today, Sunday, Jean & Cathy face each other in the quarterfinals of the Middlesex Singles over at North London. It’s a shame they have to play each other but we know one of them will be playing this afternoon in the semifinals.
Good luck to both of you and play well.
Tomorrow Sarah is playing the Area Final of the National Champion of Champions v Sue Apperly at Bush Hill Park.
Good luck Sarah!
Tina plays the winner of Lynn Andrew’s from Harefield Hospital and Hannah Hollis of Bush Hill Park. I think they’re playing on Tuesday, so Tina will know who she has in the Area Final.
Peter Judge went out to Atillio in the National Senior Singles but is looking for ward to playing Ashley T from Ashford in the next round of the R&B Competition
Alas Steve G’s Senior Four went out to the Hayes’ chaps on Friday night.
There are still games to play in the Club competitions too!
Happy Birthday to Joan O’N!
We hope you’re having a lovely day.
Winning Wednesday
Congratulations to Peter J who secured a win v Stuart McC from Ashford in the R&B Singles. Peter stormed away to a 14-3 lead before Stuart scrambled back up to 11-14. Missed the next few ends as I was concentrating on my own game , but it was a win to Peter.
On the adjacent rink Tina and Dawn were playing with Area semi Final of the National Senior Singles. It was nip and tuck all the way and I’m sure David Bryant would have been impressed by the very tight heads!
Tina pulled away to 14-11 up ( at the same time Peter J’s score was identical) and kept ahead. Tina was holding match with 3 bowls on the jack when Dawn pulled a shot out of the bag taking the jack back for 3 shots of her own. Tina eventually took a 21-18 win. She is awaiting her next opponent. Good luck!
And, the good news? … it didn’t rain all evening!
Tonight the ladies have the last 16 of the County Triples and tomorrow the men take to the green with the County Senior Fours. Good luck to all playing
Unfortunately, the friendly v Windsor & Eton on Sunday has had to be cancelled. There are enough names for the league match on Saturday 15th but the following matches to the end of the month could do with more players, please. Thanks
Oh How We Love Our Sport!
We love it so much that we’re prepared to battle it out for 2.5 hours in the pouring rain getting soaked right through to the skin!
Ok, so that’s not every time we walk on the green but it was like that last night!
Ann, Cathy, Tina & Ange went over to Bush Hill Park in the afternoon and won their Middlesex Senior Fours – congratulations to them.
Meanwhile back on home turf, Jean, Sarah, Tricia and Dawn (subbing for Lucy) started getting wet on the second trial end and played through the bucketing rain/stair rods/cats and dogs for the whole match. It wasn’t really going our way but we squelched along ringing out endless cloths just to keep going down by one shot per end v North London, who seem to be our new besties as we spend so much time playing against them!
Aided no end by Sarah’s leading skills, we managed to get back to 12-15 after 15 ends and we were definitely in with a shout. However, we dropped a 1 on 16th end followed by a colossal 6 on 17th, so that was that!
Doesn’t it seem ridiculous that four reasonable players can’t stop a 6?! Why none of us got any nearer than a yard on that final is pretty awful end should be asked to sit in the naughty corner.
However the bottom line is that they played better than us on Tuesday night. It just wasn’t to be our day Good luck to our other four who play North London in the quarter final.
I should add that we were very grateful for Norman making hot drinks and, along with Steve were both handing out as many dry towels that they could find! Also to Jane, Ann & Terry and later on Lucy & Mabel and Cathy for cheering us on
Our chaps didn’t fare much better on Monday night in the Pairs. On a positive note, both Jean and Cathy have reached the last 16 of the County Singles. Well done to both of them.
Monday Matches & Tuesday – Evening Roll Up Helpers
With the Senior Fours going on, Sarah is short of some helpers for Tuesday evening’s roll up with our new bowlers (who are all coming along very nicely).
If anyone can join Sarah, Tony & Alasdair, please let her know.
I understand Dave P & Co won their Senior Fours v Ashford. Dave P & Andy H are playing Paul C & Jay from West Ealing this evening. It will be a great match and one to watch. I believe it starts between 5:00 and 6:00 pm Also one to watch will be Gary B & partner v Joe Lovett & partner from Ashford. Alongside the chaps, Karen & Cathy will be battling out the Middlesex Singles as well as Jean & Marion on a neighbouring rink! It’s a very busy Monday night after the usual morning roll ups and Monday afternoon leagues.
As Peter J states, the Club is very ‘buzzy’!
Good luck to everyone playing.
Good News and Not So Good News
First, the not so good news….
The girls made their way over to North London BC (again) on Friday night for the Middlesex Area Final of the National Top Club.
Dawn lost the singles by 10
Tina & Ann won the Pairs by 10
Karen, Marie, Nadine & Cathy won the Fours by 7
Sarah, Ange & Jean were 7 down after the 17th end. So, it all came down to the last end on the Triples rink. No pressure!
Ange managed to secure shot but the NL no.2 drew a better one. And it stayed there until all 18 bowls were played.
Result: We lost by 1. Oh drat!
Our Men’s Senior Fours won last night v Masonians.
Ann, Cathy & Nadine and Tina, Ange & Dawn both won their triples. The latter scraping a very small win over Jacquie E, Janice & Marie. Alas Sarah, Karen & Lucy didn’t make it through.
Sarah & Lucy had a good win v Jean & Ange win in the Senior Pairs this afternoon which should have given them a warm up for tomorrow when they play in the quarterfinals (and hopefully semifinals) of the County Ladies Pairs tomorrow Good luck!
In the County Two Bowl singles last 16 today, we had three players representing the club. Alas Ann fell to Dot Stanners of Staines but Jacqui L came through on the extra end v Jackie from Grovelands but lost in the quarterfinals to Joyce W from Hayes (We were playing at Hayes)
Dawn beat Isobel from Bishop Duppas in last 16, scraped through by 1 shot v Marion from Bury Lodge in the quarterfinals then managed a win in the semi v Joyce W from Hayes Dawn now faces Hannah from Bush Hill Park in the final at Cambridge Park on 16th July
Hannah had a very tight semifinal v Meagan from West Ealing . The standard of play was excellent
Jacqui lost her Unbadged Singles to Wendy from Staines and Karen beat Anna from Ashford in the Main Singles and faces Cathy. Jean secured a 28- end 21-20 win over Tina. What a long match!
Upcoming matches this week include County Men’s Pairs for Dave 0 & Andy v Paul & Jay from West Ealing on Monday night; Ladies Senior Fours with both Ann & Jean’s teams playing on Tuesday, National Senior Singles between Tina & Dawn on Wednesday plus Cathy in the County Singles ; and Ann & Dawn’s triples both play on Thursday
All in all we’re all playing lots!
Tuesday Evening Roll Ups Continue until the end of the Season
From Sarah:
Thank you to all the members who supported our Open Day.
After our four-week introduction course we have recruited nine new members. I am very hopeful that we will add to that number in the coming weeks.
I would especially like to thank Tony, Alasdair, Karen, Julian, Jacqui, Lucy, John and Jane for all their support.
Our new members are very keen and I would love for them to meet and play with our existing members. Some will join the morning roll ups but many work and are unable to play during the day. We will keep the Tuessday evening roll ups going, so please come and join us, especially if you are meeding players for your Friday evening league team.
Thank you.
A big thank you to Sarah for all the hard work she put in with organising the Open Day and for putting the introduction course together and following it through with all the helpers.
To all our new members … WELCOME!
Those of us who are involved in County and National Competitions are somewhat busy until the middle of July, but after that we will have some more time and hope to join you on a Tuesday evening, at least.
