It Was a Win in the National Top Club Competition on Sunday

Congratulations to:-

Peter Judge – Men’s 2 Bowl SIngles – Closer than the scoreline suggests but Peter capitalised on putting the mat up and playing to his favourite jack length – good luck in  your National SIngles on Thursday.

Dawn Slaughter – Ladies 2 Bowl SIngles – a comfortable win, although her opponent put in some great shots towards the close of the  27 end match!

Barry & Teresa French – Mixed Pairs – cracking win as both were on excellent form putting their opponents under pressure right from the off.

Norman Chart, Jean Staples & Steve Gibson – Mixed Triples – it was a nip and tuck game all the way through until the last 4 ends, when the CP trio pulled away.

Tina Cooper, Tricia Green, Andy Hawes & Peter Twells – Being drawn onto Rink 2 from yesterday’s outside rinks (1 & 4) proved to be fortuitous for the chaps and they had a comfortable win with Tina and Tricia setting up the head from the front end.

The same team take to the Sutton’s green on 20th November for the second round v Sutton B team.

Club Competition Entry Forms

As promised by Stella Spaulding, Brian Crickmay and Dave Redington (thank you again, all of you), here is the Club Competition entry form in 3 versions!  You can see what it looks like below or click on the download for either the Word or pdf version or Dave is leaving hard copies at the Club if you don’t have a printer.

Entry fees can be paid over the bar and Jane can sign your sheet ‘paid’, then pop it into the red box by the inner door.

If you don’t have a partner, or feel shy about asking anyone, still put your name down for the ‘drawn’ competitions at least or speak to one of the three as there may well be other members looking for a partner for the ‘open’ competitions.

Wednesday 19th October – Sarah Takes a Day Off …. For a Very Good Reason

Congratulations to Sarah H who reaches the big *0th!  Welcome to the club!

Happy birthday also to Frances D, who has a 3 on the end of her birthday!!

We hope you both have a great day being spoiled by your family and friends!

As a result, neither of these two will be out and about helping to clear up the outside of the club after the morning roll up.  The mats are out of the ditches, so need loading into a wheelbarrow and stacking away.  I’m sure the ditches need sweeping out and weeds removed.  There will be other bits and bobs to do, so please give a hand and do what you can.  I understand there is a free beer for helping out.
