Was it Cocktail Time?

Hard luck to our remaining Senior Fours team of Sarah, Lucy, Tricia* & Jean who lost out to the North London girls who beat our other senior fours.
After a nip and tuck game all the way through, they went into the final end all square and lost by one shot. Galling especially when the shot bowl approached the head as a ‘pineapple’!

We’ve probably all done one at some point but not usually to win a match!
*Apologies to Tricia on original post, I thought it was Nadine in the four

Anyway, we’ll done to North London in beating both our teams. We wish them well in the semi- final against Bush Hill Park who beat us last year.

The CP ladies are out in force again on Saturday morning away at Ashford in the National Top Club competition.

Returning to pineapples and cocktails, will you be celebrating HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a street party or the like? Please let us know.

Wednesday 1st June

Pinch, punch, first of the month. White rabbits.  Flamin’ June!

Seems to be a pretty chilly and damp start to the month!

This afternoon, we take on Staines in another South Middlesex League match.  Thanks to everyone who signed up.

Have a great game and  I hope to post very positive news tomorrow!

Updates!

A good game in the National Mixed Fours last night in pretty heavy rain with a good win for Andy H, Teresa, Ange & Dave P v Sarah, Dawn, Gym & Kevin L. Good luck to them in the next round against Kerry’s team from Ashford.

Well done to Norman who yet again was on the Middlesex Top Rink in Monday’s county friendly  v Southampton Old BC.

Other news is that Laurence managed his 100 mile cycle in 7 hours 22 mins on Sunday and raised £560 for Prostate Cancer. Well done and thanks to those who donated.

SML v Hampton.

We drew!  We’ll sort of!  It was 2-2 on rinks but Hampton won the extra points because the overall shot score was 68-66 in their favour!

it was a good afternoon albeit in a chilly wind and we were well looked after by Kevin K and his merry men and women!

Norman, Jean, Steve & Tricia lost on the final end of their Mixed Fours. Tough game.

The South Middlesex League v Staines is at home on Wednesday. The team will be selected tonight and an email sent out to all playing.

Unless we get more names for Sunday 5th v Chertsey, we will have to cancel or postpone the fixture which would be a shame as enjoy playing Peter T, Joen their other members.  However lots of people are having Jubilee parties over the weekend, so we appreciate that not all will be available.

Congratulations Ladies!

We managed a win yesterday against Bury Lodge in the Middlesex Double Rink.  The home team of Sarah, Lucy, Nadine & Jean seemed to be ahead right from the start, unlike Dawn, Ange, Cathy & Ann who just couldn’t quite get it and when we were holding 6, the opposing skip crept in off a side bowl for 2nd!  At 3-12 down after 10 ends, we managed to pull together on an almost full length jack to get a 7 and were suddenly 13-13 after 15 ends.  After that we moved ahead until something happened on 20th end and we dropped a 5.  Oops!

The home team won 24-16 and the away team 23-19.  We now play the winners of Rosedale Park and Winchmore Hill – the results aren’t up yet.

Good luck to our team playing Hampton away this afternoon in the South Middlesex League.

Good luck to Tricia, Steve, Jean & Norman who are heading off to Ashford later to play Kerry P and team in the National Mixed Fours.

It’s fresh out there today and about 5C lower than yesterday so  you’ll probably need a fleece or jacket especially if you are sitting out with a coffee or watching bowls or both!

London 100 Mile Bike Ride – Sunday 29th May – One of our Bowlers will be Pedalling!

Good luck to Laurence as he attempts the Ride London-Essex 100 Mile Bike Ride.  The charity for which he is collecting is Prostate Cancer.

If you feel you could give Prostate Cancer a bit of a boost and Laurence’s legs a bit of a spur on to complete the course, the link is here

The route goes out east from London this year.  In previous years, it has come near to the Club blocking off some roads, but it looks as if those of us heading to Hampton on Sunday will be ok.

Good luck, Laurence!  It’ll be cooler on Sunday which probably won’t be a bad thing!

Middlesex Men’s Triples Tonight – Friday

Its the start of the Middlesex Men’s competitions tonight with the Men’s Triples for Steve, Norman and …. wait for it ….  Mike Cooper but they didn’t play after all as the opposition couldn’t get a team together!

It’s a high pollen day today, so don’t forget your antihistamines before you leave the house. and another dry evening in store for the Friday Night Leagues.  The fish and chips went down a storm last Friday, so will be repeated again tonight I believe.

Tomorrow it’s the Ladies Double Rink competition with Sarah, Lucy, Nadine & Jean playing at home at 10.00 am and Dawn, Ange, Cathy & Ann playing away at Bury Lodge.  Supporters welcome at both venues.

Saturday is going to be the warmest day of the weekend.  For those of you playing on Sunday at Hampton in the South MIddlesex League, make sure you have some fleece layers on hand!

I’m pleased to report that Tricia and I won our National Senior Ladies Pairs last night.  We await the winners of Sarah & Lucy and Marion B & Carole D from Ashford.

Thursday

Another week whizzing by and it’s been busy with one thing and another.

Wins in the Ladies Triples for Ann H And Sarah’s teams putting them on opposing sides next Thursday nd June.

Both Sarah and Ann’s Fours are through in the Fours having played their ties early.  Fortunately they do not meet each other in the next round!

Laurie G played for Bowls England this week.  Not only was he on the top rink, but they also scored a hot shot.  WOW!

Gordon came up against Peter J in the Champion of Champions and came a close second, puttig Peter through to play  Luke Mann of Ashford in the next roudn.

Congratulations to Sarah, Ann H, Jean, Nadine, Cathy, Ange, Tina and Dawn who have all been selected to represent Middlesex in the Johns Trophy v Surrey at Popes Mead in Sussex on 18th June.  Supporters and spectators will be very welcome.  This is the first time selection for Sarah, which is brilliant and very well deserved!

Tricia & Dawn play Anna M & partner from Ashford in the National Senior Pairs tonight.

I am sure there have been other ties going on so please update us with all your results.

Thanks.  Have a good day – no rain/hail/wind forecast!
