Ladies Pairs – Results

Good news on the Ladies’ Pairs front.
Sarah & Lucy had, what they describe as ‘a scrappy’ game but managed a win

Ann H & Cathy also won.

The roving reporter (ie on the next rink) reported that Janice & Marie were 0-11 when she arrived. Managed to pull back to 18-18 and on the extra end, Janice moved the jack back to get shot and they won. Well done, girls!

Carole & Frances, who knocked out Ange & Dawn last week, won against their Staines opponents last night.

The next Pairs round is scheduled for 9th June.

Sunday 22nd May. “Friendly” Match

Of course it will be friendly this afternoon but the Middlesex Ladies (well represented by Cambridge Park badged players) will be going out guns a-blazing v the Middlesex Men!

We’re anticipating a good match, excellent bowling and a great amount of banter between our endeavours to get a win!

The bar will be open so come along and watch while enjoying a drink or two.
Supporters welcome for both teams!

Play starts at 2.00 pm after Lucy & Kevin battle it out v Elaine P & partner from Ashford, starting at 10.00 am

Mid Surrey BC Centenary

Despite it being their Centenary year, and although it was friendly in the true meaning of the word, we managed to clock up a 2.5-1.5 set win in the R&B League yesterday.
Along with their usual warm welcome, we were treated to a selection of songs by members of the London Welsh Male Voice Choir (although no Luigi!). Beautiful!

Monday Afternoon Leagues

From David Hale …

On Monday 16th May, the Cambridge Park ‘NPL’ afternoon League started. We got off to a good start, with 8 teams from various clubs participating. The weather was largely fine, with just a small interruption for a 5 minute shower.

The green played well, particularly for this stage in the season. When the sun was out, it was bowls at its most enjoyable and some really fun games were played. So, let’s hope that the weather is good for the rest of the season.

The league now runs every Monday until 22nd August, with just a break for the early June Jubilee week.

Richmond & Barnes League v Teddington

Congratulations to Teddington who got the best of us yesterday in the rain at Cambridge Park.  They coped better than we did but we hope to redress the balance when we play them again both in the R&B League as well as the South Middlesex League.

Top rink was a draw for Gym, Gordon, Tricia and Tony O’Brien.

Teresa, Barry, Shaf and Corale had a tight game up until half way when the Teddington tear-aways upped their game.
On our rink – Joan, Bernard, Brian C and Dawn, we started extremely well, going down by 12 shots after the first two ends.   Oops!  We plugged away with each team member contributing and were within grasping reach at 21-23, then the wheels fell off again (i.e. Teddington went back to full length jacks!) and we went down 27-32.

Thanks to Brian C for setting up the rinks and to Jane for manning the bar.  Despite the weather, it was a good afternoon.

Enjoy the first Monday After League this afternoon.
