Monday League Afternoon – Warm & Sunny!

Pack the suncream today. Up to 20c. Hasn’t the weather been kind to us this last week? Long may it continue. Of course it would be nice if it rained during the hours of darkness just to keep things fresh. I’m looking for Camelot …

“The rain must never fall till after sundown;

By 8 the morning mists must disappear …”

Alas, the men went down to Ashford in the National Two Fours yesterday but there were other wins in the Nationals with Dave, Andy, Wolfie & Ange. The Mixed Fours, Tina, Lucy, Ashley & Andy in the Mixed Fours and Dawn & Paul Cater in the Mixed Pairs. They are out again tonight beside Ann H & Jay Head in the Mixed Fours at Brentham.

Ann H, Jean and Jacquie all have their MIddlesex Fours matches this week and Ange & Dawn start their Richmond & Barnes Open Pairs challenge and Shaf his singles.
I’m sure there are others playing matches, so keep us updated.
We need 4 more for Sunday’s triples v Hampton if anyone can add their name to the list, please.

Sunny Sunday- Good Luck to the Boys!

Good luck to our chaps in the National Two Fours v Ashford at Ashford this morning. 10:30 start and supporters welcome.
Back at the Club, the Middlesex Ladies have their squad day starting at 9:30 with games both morning and afternoon. Several of the CP girls are playing.
Don’t forget that Bowlswear Direct have their roadshow at the club between 11:00 and 2:00.
Also don’t forget the suncream today!

Busy Weekend!

Good luck to the Ladies playing Grovelands in the Middlesex Double Rink competition on Saturday morning at 10:30. One rink home, one away.
Good luck to the club team playing Mid Surrey in the afternoon in the R&B League.
On Sunday, the men are playing their first National Two Fours at Ashford. Good luck to them.
Cambridge Park host the Middlesex Johns Squad Trial day with several of our girls among the ranks.
Have fun everyone. Take your time on the mat, relax and enjoy!

PS. Weather looks good all weekend!

Subs – Update from Ange

We now have 97 outdoor members. Whoop, whoop – brilliant! Please can you check that you have paid your subs?  Most people have, but a few might not have found the email or it’s gone AWOL in the ether!

If you haven’t, please let Ange know and she’ll pop an invoice over to you.

Match sheets for the end of May to the end of June will be up in the clubhouse by Thursday.

Great to see so many names signed up for this week’s Mid Surrey and next week’s Teddington game.

Match selection for the Teddington game will be done next week.

For this Saturday 20th in the RBL Away v Mid Surrey at 2:30,  we have

Shaf, Jacqui, Mike & Gym

Karen, Mark S, George & Laurence

Brian C, Alasdair, Tony O’B & Peter T

with Ray & Roy in reserve.

Laurence is Match Captain.

More of a Win than a Draw!

Once everybody has managed to stagger through the Army & Navy Rugby traffic, we had a very enjoyable afternoon in the first Richmond & Barnes League match v Ashford, despite the still heavyish green and cold. ( What happened to the 19c and sun that was forecast in the morning? Jane nearly had to serve soup and hot Bovril instead of beer to warm us up!)

Good to see Reg, Brian C, Graham Kellet, Corale, Tina. Nadine & Jean in our supporters gallery. Thanks

There were wins for Ashford v Ann and Anthony’s rinks but an outstanding 38-7 win for Norman, Laurence, Alasdair & Mike C. If only Laurence hadn’t done a wrong bias, it might have been 39!!

1 point for a winning rink and 1 point for an overall shot win. Cambridge Park managed to pull off the overall win by 64-57 so congratulations to everyone who played. Even the minimal score on our rink contributed!

We hope Anthony’s elbow and Andy’s back aren’t too sore today.

In the National comps, Ashford had a win in the Family Pairs with Mark & Vicki Smith beating Ange & Scott Cumine; and Martin Payne & Lou Putnam beating Tina Cooper & Ashley in the Mixed Pairs having beaten Lucy & Norman the previous weekend.
More Middlesex as well as National comps this week so good luck on and all.
