Middlesex Ladies in the Spotlight!

After a close game Kaz & Paul went out of the Mixed Pairs by just a couple of shots.
Both Men’s Triples won their first round matches last night so progress to last 32 in the Nationals.
However there is a treat in store this morning! Both Kerry & Lou and Pam & Sandra won both their matches putting them into the final 16. One of them will make the quarter finals as they play each other at 09:30 on A green. And it’s not just any old rink on A green, it is A1 so the whole match will be streamed live on bowls.tv/bowlsengland. The link to streaming is in the Bowls England Facebook page

Enjoy the match over your morning coffee!

Well done to our CP yesterday who had a win over all rinks at Staines yesterday. Thanks to their player who stepped in for George at the last minute.
A big well done to Adrian who had an excellent debut match for us AND won a raffle prize!

Happy Birthday, Reg!

We hope you’re having a lovely day and being spoiled by the family.

Edit:  I gather from a couple of little birds that you were spoiling all those that were at the club this morning as you brought in goodies to share. Thank you. That was very kind of you.

PS. The crows also said thank you as they pecked at the crumbs under the outdoor tables!

Wednesday – and Middlesex are back on the Leamington Greens

Unfortunately, our Junior Boys Pairs went out yesterday after a good battle.

Today, on C green, Pam Waller & Sandra Wright from Winchmore Hill take on a ladies pair from Dukeries BC in Nottinghamshire, whilst Kerry & Lou from Ashford face a pair fromSwanage BC.  Both those games start at 9:30 so we hope our girls have had a good night’s sleep and are raring to go.

At lunchtime, Kaz Ryan & Paul Wilsher from West Ealing start their challenge in the Mixed Pairs.  By winning the Regional Final, they are already in the last 16 – fantastic!  They’re on E green at 1:30 pm

Weather looks good for the whole day – hooray!

Good luck Middlesex!

Monday 14th August

A date to remember in our family as it would have been Mum & Dad’s 75th wedding anniversary!

They wouldn’t have liked bowling in the rain. According to the Met Office, this current grey miserable downpour should be over mid morning and the Monday afternoon league should be dry and sunny. Hope so!

Up in Leamington, the West Ealing girls – Sue, Kaz & Megan – are through to the last 32. They play at 09:30 this morning against a team from Wiltshire.
In the Men’s Pairs, Glen & Norman from Paddington won both their games yesterday- the latter being a nail-biter going to an extra end and, as it was on A1 green, it was videoed (Watch it on catch up).  They now face a pair from Notts in the last 16.

Both the Paddington boys and the West Ealing girls are very capable of going further in the competitions

Our Junior Boys’ Pairs also hit the green today  so good luck to Ollie & Robert from North Greenwich and Poplar. Good luck to them too!

Go, Middlesex, go!

Sunday 13th August and Middlesex are Back on the Leamington Greens

After a quiet couple of days, Middlesex are back in force with the Men’s Pairs and Ladies Triples.  Unfortunately neither competition features any Cambridge Park players.

Verye arly for a Sunday morning, at 09:00 Tony Waller (he who does a brilliant job on the Bowls Middlesex Facebook page) & Chris Harris face a pair from Westlecot.  Although on the A green, it’s not A1, so won’t be live on streaming, in fact as far from the video as they could get on the green, A6!

Glen(da) Adams & Norman Warley from Paddington are also out at 09:00, playing Bucks on E green.  This is difficult for the Middlesex supporters running from one end of Victoria Park to the other to cheer our lads on!

Once they’ve finished, the Ladies Triples gets under way at 1:00 pm with Kaz  Ryan, Sue Butcher & Megan Hunt from West Ealing facing a Yorkshire side on A5, at the same time as Brenda, Janet & Terri from Broomfield take on Northants on E green.  A good day for Middlesex supporters to get their 10,000 steps in!

Success for either of the Men’s Pairs, see them back on the green at 5:00 pm.  For the girls, the 2nd round of the triples is on Monday.

Tony Waller does a brilliant day’s round up on FB and the Middlesex Bowls website.  Check out Leamington 2023 Blog on

Have a good Sunday!

A Triples’ Win

Steve G, Tricia & Dawn found themselves on top form yesterday evening and had a comfortable win in the South Middlesex Triples at Fordbridge Park. A real team effort. Our opposition didn’t play badly either!

if only we could play like that all (or nearly all) the time!

Friday 11th August -A Quiet Day for Middlesex at the National Championships

Unfortunately it wasn’t quite the start we would have liked yesterday. Tina, Nadine, Cathy & Ann were neck and neck up to 11-11 then the opposition took off to take the match 18-11.

However, the Ashford girls fared better with a fairly comfortable win in their first match, only to go down in the second game in the afternoon.
Matt from Ashford came up a strong Perry Martin in the first Singles game but Ashley nearly made it only going down 17-21.
well done for getting there anyway.
Next up will be the Men’s Pairs and Ladies’ Triples on Sunday morning.

Have fun in the Friday Night League tonight.

Thursday 10th August. Start Flag Waving!

By the time some of you will have read this, our Middlesex Four of Tina. Nadine.  Cathy & Ann H will have had breakfast, done a mile walk, spent 20 minutes doing stretches and, with adrenaline pumping, will be stepping onto E Green to play their first round at the National Championships in Leamington against opponents from the Isle of Wight, starting at 09:30.

The Ashford girls Kerry, Lou, Vicki & Lisa are the other Middlesex Four and, having completed a similar warm up routine, they play Hampshire on B green

Winners of this round go into the last 32 in the country playing in the afternoon.

At 1:30, Ashley from Ashford takes on Durham and Matt, also from Ashford, plays Perry Martin from Dorset (I think Perry used to play up in one of the London clubs). Both of these matches are on A green and the boys could be appearing on the Bowls England tv stream  – check out the BE Facebook page.

Good luck to all of you  we’ll be waving and cheering all your great shots – mainly from the Twickenham area but with you on spirit.

Knock ‘em dead!
